U.S. News & World Report has ranked the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s online master’s degrees in engineering eighth in the nation for 2023.

This is the twelfth year in the row that the online engineering programs, offered by the College of Engineering’s Interdisciplinary Professional Programs, have been top-ranked, ahead of many institutions known for outstanding engineering and online programs.

Part of what sets the online engineering programs at UW-Madison apart is that, unlike many degrees that pivoted online during the COVID-19 pandemic, they were always designed to be offered online—with working professionals in mind. Students learn directly from industry leaders and world-renowned faculty and can immediately apply what they learn to their real-world projects.

The 2023 rankings for UW-Madison online engineering programs include:

  • Master’s in Engineering Programs for Veterans — #5
  • Master’s in Civil Engineering Programs — #9
  • Master’s in Electrical Engineering Programs — #13 (tie)
  • Master’s in Industrial Engineering Programs — #17
  • Master’s in Engineering Management Programs — #10 (tie)
  • Master’s in Mechanical Engineering Programs — #9 (tie)
