ME 903 Graduate Seminar: Adam Steltzner

September 24 @ 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

The ME 903: Graduate Student Lecture Series features campus and visiting speakers who present on a variety of research topics in the field of mechanical engineering. Adam Steltzner is a Chief Engineer at NASA.

Bio: Adam Steltzner is NASA’s Chief Engineer for Special Projects, where he works on difficult problems whose solutions generally cannot be found in the instruction manual. He was previously the Chief Engineer for Mars Sample Return, the Perseverance Rover and he led the development of the Sky Crane landing system. When not thinking about spacecraft, propulsion, and how things fail, he can usually be found riding a bicycle, playing bass, or considering an unnecessarily ambitious mechanical project. He lives in Altadena with his family and remains cautiously optimistic that engineering judgment, curiosity, and sufficient caffeine can solve most problems.
