Albert, Luedtke earn NSF grant to optimize IT security

Professors Laura Albert and James Luedtke will use a four-year, $1.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation to develop an optimization framework that can help organizations effectively and efficiently protect their information technology systems.

Albert and Luedtke, who are both also Harvey D. Spangler Faculty Scholars in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, plan to apply their expertise in optimization to create a new framework that can guide organizations’ security procedures for mitigating risks and vulnerabilities.

Albert has brought her operations research to cybersecurity issues in recent years.
