Commencement celebrations, engineering grad recognition, this weekend

Written By: Staff

Thousands of University of Wisconsin-Madison students will graduate on May 10 and 11, 2019, during festivities that include university ceremonies and school and college events.

The College of Engineering will honor graduates during its annual graduate recognition event, which draws graduate families and friends from all corners of the globe.

During the event, graduating engineers at all levels will march across the stage in the company of their peers, hear their name read, shake hands with college and department leaders, receive their red diploma cover, and have their photo taken.

The celebration takes place May 11, 2019, at the Kohl Center; doors open at 4 p.m., graduates must be lined up by 4:30 p.m., and the event begins with fanfare promptly at 5 p.m., when hundreds of cap-and-gown-clad engineering graduates will process into the arena.

Find everything you need to know about the event (including the best ways to navigate to the Kohl Center and information about engineering department celebrations) at graduation.engr.wisc.edu.

At the campus level, spring commencement ceremonies will be held May 10 and May 11. On May 10 at 5:30 p.m., a ceremony at the Kohl Center will honor PhD, master of fine arts, and medical degree recipients, while on May 11 at noon, a ceremony at Camp Randall Stadium is dedicated to undergraduates, law degree, and master’s degree recipients. Engineers graduates also can participate in one of these ceremonies.
