Concrete canoe team advances to national competition

Written By: Tom Ziemer

The University of Wisconsin-Madison concrete canoe team will once again compete against the nation’s best.

The team, comprised of students from the College of Engineering, recently won the Concrete Canoe Great Lakes Student Conference in Chicago to qualify for the National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC). The students will travel to San Diego to take on 24 teams from across the country on June 23-25, 2018.

UW-Madison has won the national meet seven times. Teams compete in four categories: design paper, oral presentation, final product and several racing events. The American Society of Civil Engineers organizes the NCCC, which is in its 31st year.
