The University of Wisconsin-Madison concrete canoe team finished seventh at the 2019 American Society of Civil Engineers’ National Concrete Canoe Competition, held June 6-8 at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida.

The UW-Madison team, made up of more than 30 students from the College of Engineering, placed fourth among American universities. Teams earn points for their design paper, oral presentation, final product and, of course, races in the water. The University of Florida placed first.

UW-Madison qualified for the national competition by winning its regional event in April.
