Kaibo Liu, an associate professor of industrial and systems engineering, will develop new artificial intelligence methods and tools to improve predictive maintenance of smart and connected systems through a new grant from the U.S. Army Engineering Research and Development Center.
Liu, whose research focuses on big data analytics and system informatics, will use the three-year, $419,423 grant to create solutions that enhance data collection to assess system status and detect problems, and then apply artificial intelligence to predict the remaining life of components to optimize maintenance decisions.
