Pascale Carayon elected to National Academy committee

Pascale Carayon, a professor of industrial and systems engineering and the Proctor & Gamble Professor in Total Quality, was named a member of the Committee on Improving the Quality of Health Care Globally of the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. The committee is charged with assessing and improving healthcare quality in low-resource areas, and Carayon is its only engineer. She also received the “Extra Mile Award” from the Department of Medicine in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, which recognizes a faculty member outside the department who has made significant contributions to its success, and was named the human factors work stream leader by the Network for Excellence in Health Innovation.
