Travis Arnold, a PhD student in chemical and biological engineering, was notified in February 2017 that he gave the “best presentation of the session” at the annual meeting of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), which was held in November 2016 in San Francisco. The title of Arnold’s talk was “Noise Covariance Estimation for an Air Separation Plant” at the session entitled “Estimation and Control of Uncertain Systems.” Arnold’s PhD advisor is James Rawlings, Steenbock Professor and W. Harmon Ray Professor of chemical and biological engineering.
