David Azari, an industrial and systems engineering PhD student, won the 2018 Chapanis Best Student Paper Award at the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society annual meeting, held Oct. 1-5, 2018, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received the honor for his paper, “Can surgical performance for varying experience be measured from hand motions?” Azari, who works in the laboratory of Robert Radwin, the Duane H. and Dorothy M. Bluemke Professor in industrial and systems engineering, had his hands full by the end of the conference: He also earned the award for best healthcare technical group student paper.
