Alumnus, renowned audio engineer Robert Schulein passes away

Electrical engineering alumnus Robert Schulein, a renowned audio engineer, passed away on Jan. 1, 2019, following a battle with cancer. He was 76. The fellow and past-president of the International Audio Engineering Society was a prolific inventor, with a wealth of patents to his credit in the fields of acoustics and electroacoustics.

Schulein, who was raised in Rockford, Illinois, received BSEE and MSEE degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he did research on piezoresistive semiconductor transducers. After graduating college in 1966 he landed what would become a 30-year career at Shure Brothers Inc. in Evanston, Illinois. Read more about Schulein in this Lighting & Sound America obituary.
