CBE senior recognized among nation’s most promising undergraduate researchers

Written By: Sam Million-Weaver

Chemical engineering student Nathan Wang was one of 21 undergraduate researchers from across the United States chosen to give a presentation at the Future Leaders in Chemical Engineering Symposium, Oct. 21-22, 2018, at North Carolina State University. The meeting brings together the nation’s most talented undergraduate researchers, and honorees receive all-expense-paid travel in addition to the opportunity to present their work. Wang’s advisor is Sean P. Palecek, the Milton J. and A. Maude Shoemaker Professor. His project, “Synergistic enhancement of beta-peptide antifungal activity against Candida albicans biofilm formation,” describes new approaches to combat difficult-to-treat fungal infections, a growing public health concern.
