Chemical engineering student Nathan Wang was one of 21 undergraduate researchers from across the United States chosen to give a presentation at the Future Leaders in Chemical Engineering Symposium, Oct. 21-22, 2018, at North Carolina State University. The meeting brings together the nation’s most talented undergraduate researchers, and honorees receive all-expense-paid travel in addition to the opportunity to present their work. Wang’s advisor is Sean Palecek, the Milton J. and A. Maude Shoemaker Professor. His project, “Synergistic enhancement of beta-peptide antifungal activity against Candida albicans biofilm formation,” describes new approaches to combat difficult-to-treat fungal infections, a growing public health concern.
